March 24, 2018 - EPJ Wins on Last-Lap Pass Over Bloomquist at Boyd's
1 After losing Thursday’s opener at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee), Earl Pearson Jr. was one of 44 Super Late Models on hand at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) on Friday evening for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) sanctioned The Shamrock. Losing one spot in his heat race, Pearson posted a runner-up finish behind Don O’Neal positioning him 6th on the starting grid for the opening night feature. Making his way to the front in the final 10 circuits, Earl overtook Chris Madden for 2nd on lap-47 and had his eyes set on race-leader Scott Bloomquist in the final three laps. Passing Bloomquist on the final lap, Earl Pearson Jr. streaked to his first win of the season and a $12,000 payday. The win marked his second straight victory in The Shamrock at the famed 1/3-mile located on the border of Tennessee and Georgia.
