EPJ begins North/South weekend at Florence Speedway

Earl Pearson Jr. returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Thursday afternoon at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for the Sunoco North-South Shootout. In a field of 46 cars, Pearson Jr. secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win preliminary feature with a third-place finish in his heat. On Friday afternoon for a pair of heat races, Earl followed up a fourth-place finish in his first round with another fourth-place finish after sitting out a lengthy rain storm.

With passing points aligning him 16th on the starting grid for Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win North/South 100, Earl Pearson Jr. faded one position in the 100-lap affair to record a 17th-place outing.

Earl sits in 11th in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
