Pair of Top-10 finishes in Clash at the Mag at Magnolia
Earl Pearson Jr. returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Thursday afternoon as the series invaded Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) for the 13th annual Optima Batteries Clash at the Mag. Drawing 44 Late Models for the event co-sanctioned with the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS), Pearson Jr. followed up the sixth fastest time in his group with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Tim McCreadie. With severe weather set to hit the area on Saturday afternoon, officials scratched Friday’s final preliminary night and shifted the $12,000-to-win Clash at the Mag to Friday. Outdueling Brian Rickman in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory, Earl locked into the second-starting position for the finale. Fading four spots in the 50-lap affair, Earl Pearson Jr. notched a sixth-place finish.
Earl has climbed to 11th in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
