Top-5 finish in Wrisco Winternationals opener at East Bay

For the next stop with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Earl Pearson Jr. headed to East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) on Monday afternoon for the opening round of the Wrisco Winternationals. In a stout field of 76 cars, Pearson Jr. came in eighth in his heat before placing seventh in his B-Main. Relying on a provisional into the opening night feature, Earl got caught in a multi-car tangle on the opening lap that realigned the field. The following night, Earl fell short of a transfer spot in his heat race and B-Main, leaving him with a provisional as his only option to make the show. After getting caught in a tangle on the fourth lap of the feature, Pearson Jr. got spun around on lap 14 that saw him retire early from the 30-lapper.

On Wednesday afternoon, Pearson Jr. had to resort on a provisional again for the $7,000-to-win A-Main after failing to transfer out of his heat and B-Main.

With Mother Nature postponing the 40-lap feature to late Thursday evening, Earl gained eight spots to finish 17th.

For Thursday night’s full program, Earl followed up an eighth place finish in his heat with a 14th place finish in his B-Main. Using a provisional into the show, Pearson Jr. withdrew from the 40-lap affair on lap 16.

On Friday evening, Pearson Jr. came in seventh in his heat before falling one spot shy of a transfer position in his B-Main with a third place finish. Starting the $12,000-to-win A-Main in 26th via a provisional, Earl advanced through the field 18 spots to come home eighth.

Wrapping up the 45th annual Wrisco Winternationals on Saturday afternoon, Earl was forced to rely on a provisional into the main event after failing to qualify for the $15,000-to-win finale in his heat and B-Main. Passing 16 cars in the 50-lapper, Pearson Jr. notched an 11th-place outing.

Earl is currently 14th in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
