Alberson gaining momentum in Winternationals at East Bay
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) was back in action on Monday afternoon at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) with Garrett Alberson and 69 competitors entered for the Wrisco Winternationals. Following a fourth-place finish in his heat, Garrett missed a transfer spot in his B-Main by one position with a third-place finish. On Wednesday evening after Mother Nature axed Tuesday’s program, Alberson was forced to take a provisional into the feature after falling short of a transfer spot in his heat and B-Main. With $7,000 on the line, Garrett improved 12 spots in the 40-lapper to finish 16th.
For another $7,000-to-win A-Main on Thursday, Garrett came in fourth in his heat before picking up a 10-lap consolation victory. Rolling off 20th for the feature, Alberson passed six cars to register a 14th-place finish.
The following night, Alberson followed up a fifth-place finish in his heat with a runner-up finish in his B-Main. Wheeling his way into the Top-10 in the feature, Garrett gained 16 positions in the 40-lap affair to register an impressive seventh-place finish.
For the finale on Saturday, Garrett secured his spot into the $15,000-to-win A-Main with a second-place finish in his heat. After getting caught in a multi-car tangle on lap 35, Alberson salvaged a 13th-place finish in the 50-lapper.
